Alternative's board of directors (San Diego Alliance Drum & Bugle Corps, Inc.) voted unanimously to not field a competitive unit in 2011. The decision to take a season off was not made easily, however it was made with the best long-term interests of the organization in mind.
"Over the past few seasons, we have been struggling with a few major obstacles that have made the day-to-day operation of the group very difficult", stated Director, Paul Casey. “That, coupled with the economic climate made it apparent that we need to re-evaluate the business side of the organization to ensure our members get the best experience possible. I would like to thank the membership, staff, supporters and fans that have made us successful the past six seasons, and hope to see you again in 2012.”
